At the age of 26 Eric needed to make some drastic changes to his lifestyle. From always being "the skinny kid" growing up, Eric found himself overweight, always feeling tired and not feeling well physically. Eric took part in a 12 week transformation program that not only yielded tremendous results, it lit the fire for him to change careers and become a personal trainer. Now 16 years later Eric has helped 100's of clients reach their max potential in weight loss, injury prevention and strength & conditioning. Certified from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a trainer & Weight Loss Specialist, Eric is also a Level 1 Precision Nutrition Coach and Senior Course Instructor for TRX. He also holds certifications in post rehabilitative training and indoor cycling. Eric and his wife Christy opened Prime Fitness in 2011. When Eric isn't working with clients or operating the studio you can find him enjoying as much time as possible with Christy and their son Matthew. You may also find Eric out on the golf course!
Matthew is Eric & Christy's son. He is known as the "true CEO" of Prime Fitness. You can find him running around the gym, climbing on whatever he can, lifting weights and he loves burpees!
Christy Giroux has been in the fitness business since 1998 when she graduated from Ithaca College with her degree in Exercise Science. After holding numerous positions from personal trainer to fitness director, general manager to regional training specialist, she and Eric decided it was time to open up a fitness studio and in 2011, Prime Fitness was born. Christy has numerous certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine including certified personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, group training specialist, and golf fitness specialist. She is TRX Suspension Training qualified and a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach. Christy is also an educator for the National Academy of Sports Medicine and Trigger Point Performance Therapy, educating other fitness professionals throughout the United States. When Christy isn’t programming BootCamp workouts for Prime or instructing classes, she spends her time with their son, Matthew. You may also see Christy in a lot of area running races.
Jude Evans comes from a varied background. She majored in Elementary Education at the University of Maryland and was a preschool teacher. Once she had a family she knew she wanted to be available to her girls, so she started a small business, BigFoot Walking Company. She is certified to teach spin, body pump, various group exercise formats, and is TRX qualified. She is also a Girls on the Run coach. In the summer of 2016, Jude earned her NASM Certified Personal Trainer certification. She is also enrolled in school to complete a nursing program. Jude stays very busy! Jude actually joined one of our Prime Fitness challenges and loved it so much, we asked her to come teach for us. We are so excited to have Jude on our team and are excited about what the future holds for her.
Paige Bearnarth received her Associates Degree in General Studies & Health Fitness from Montgomery College. In 2015 Paige became a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and a group exercise instructor through AFAA. She is qualified in TRX Suspension Training. Her ultimate goal is to help people reach their fitness goals and learn to enjoy exercise. “If you love your job, you never have to work a day in your life”, and she loves her job. She wants to teach people about their body and what it is truly capable of achieving.
Ken Sandler is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Ken enjoys all aspects of fitness and many different modalities including TRX, medicine & stability balls, and anything else that make working out fun! Ken is a qualified TRX Suspension Training and TRX Rip Trainer coach. His philosophy is to not quit. Taking small steps will get anyone where they want to go.
Will is an Ace certified personal trainer with over 7 years of experience. He is certified in TRX suspension training, kettlebells, and boxing. He has experience working with a wide variety of populations through many different fitness domains including weight loss, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, wellness coaching, and endurance training. It’s never too late to improve your health. With individualized training and proper technique, I am here to help you achieve results. Will’s main goal is to support and motivate you during every step of your fitness journey. Will enjoys helping people of all fitness levels become the best versions of themselves by creating a fun environment where you are challenged and feel accomplished after every workout.
Ashley comes to Prime with a pretty unconventional background. She received her degree in Economics and Political Science from Dickinson College. After working for several years as the senior development associate for an international nonprofit organization, she made a big jump to follow her passion for photography and started her own business. She is now a premiere family photographer in the DC and MD area. All along the way, fitness played an important role in her life. Whether she was picking up heavy weights and the gym, or training for a race, fitness was a priority. Ashley has completed several marathons, and numerous other races from 5ks to half marathons. Her latest passion, and one she hopes to compete in for many years to come, is obstacle course racing. She is planning on completing the Spartan trifecta in 2017, and several other OCRs. If she's not at Prime or behind the camera, you can probably find her on the playground swinging from the monkey bars or doing burpees in the grass. Ashley has two children, an energetic and positive attitude, and a commitment to strength. Ashley is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Ashley is also a Qualified TRX Instructor and has completed the TRX Suspension Training & Functional Training Course.
Jenn Ackerman comes to Prime with a very diverse background. She studied Art History with a minor in Coaching and Wellness Education at Ursinus College. She has always been very heavily involved in fitness and sports, with a focus on field hockey. She played Division III field hockey for Ursinus where she was able to travel and compete internationally in Europe. Jenn was also selected to play with other D2 and D3 athletes for the USA Athletes International team in Australia during her junior year of college. After college, Jenn taught preschool and first grade for a few years while simultaneously coaching club and high school field hockey at St. John's College High School. She is an avid runner, and has completed several half marathons and a full marathon. After over 4 years of coaching, she decided to make a permanent switch into the fitness world! She is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, a certified Spin and Pilates Instructor and a qualified TRX Suspension Training Coach.
